Wow, another "we can solve all your computer problems for you" POC?
I've been reviewing those and subsequently flushing them down the ol' Bit Bucket, for 40+ years.
The closest thing I've ever seen, that actually works, is the Extended Disk Cleanup. But, it's designed to clean up Windows own mess, not the junk files generated by commercial software. (Browsers, Games, etc.)

For that, I searched out every hiding place, where software hides it's trash, and I put those locations into one program (batch file) that runs in just a few seconds and can remove thousands, tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of junk files, depending on how often the program gets run.
There are no options to wade through, no menus, and no delays. Just click a desktop shortcut, and a few seconds later, a Clean Machine.

Cheers Mates,

Since I first wrote "XPCleanup.bat" some years ago, I've had to revise it for just about every OS since then.
I actually skipped 10, because I never liked it and never actually ran it. But then had to do some major revisions for Win-11.
I'm still tweaking that one, but it's running GREAT and doing a good job of keeping my old PC clean, lean and mean!
On Cinco de Mayo, I ran my little batch file and got this report at the end:
CincoDeMayo.jpg
That was a Red Letter day, with over 160,000 junk files removed in just a few seconds, and all I had to do was watch the junk scroll off the screen.

I hope I don't have to do too much RE-Writing for Win-12. If I do, I will!
Come on 12! I enjoy a challenge.

@TechnoMageSG1, my Malware Universary that i went through in 1968 never mentioned anything about"XPCleanup.bat" or in any of the refresher courses i have taken & still do today, there is no mention of it ! In today's world we use AdwCleaner or the Malwarebytes to start then if that doesn't take care of it then we have lots of other programs !!

There were PC's in 1968? Wow, that one got past me. Did it run on Vacuum tubes?
The first Computer I ever worked on did! NCR 318, ser #1.

I'm assuming that you may have thought that I patented or sold my "XPCleanup" batch file?
No, I only shared it with my 100+ PC customers, and a few friends on the internet. (five countries, all together)
Besides, a Legal Eagle friend of mine told me that it would be illegal to try to patent or sell a Batch File based on MS DOS.

I still share my "Windows 11 Cleanup.bat" program today, but only to those who specifically ask for it, like in a PM or email.
I can also put a stripped down version of it in the Startup folder, so it runs for a few seconds on every Boot Up, for a little daily maintenance. That's for the people who are too lazy to do anything to keep their own PC clean and running smoothly.

So far, I've sent it (text only, via email) to friends all over the US, and to Canada, and five other countries.
The text of the batch file can be copied from an email, pasted into any word processor and saved to the desktop, with a .bat extension, making it run with just a mouse click.

Since I finished off my little program earlier this spring, it has removed over a Million junk files from my own PC. (the one out of 12, that I'm on now)

That was a typo error, it should of been 1978 ! But they did had a computer in 1968 !
Hewlett-Packard began marketing the first mass-marketed PC and the worlds first desktop computer, the HP 9100A. The first NWG (Network Working Group) meeting is held.

By the time that I decided to build my own PC, aftermarket parts, from Japan and Korea were flooding the market.
So my first PC was an IBM XT Clone, built by me, with an 8088 cpu and a Seagate 20 mb hard drive, and 64 k of ram memory. Boy, that seems like a lifetime ago. And maybe it was! DOS 2.0 was the OS of the day. As bad as it was, it was a huge step up from my old Commodore 64.

Dang, I missed that one! I also missed the Sinclair, the Tandy and several other little machines of the day.
My foray into the Commodore 64 propelled me into a very active and lucrative Commodore repair and upgrade business.
I re-wrote the OS to make it faster and more fun.
And I modified the C-1541 disk drive, to make it QUIET and more reliable.

And after I built my first PC, and discovered how to improve it, that drop-kicked me into the IBM Compatible PC business, from which I have only recently retired. And, what a wild ride that was!!!

I'm almost giddy, waiting to see what Windows 12 will look like. It's been a long time, and somewhat bumpy road, since MS DOS 2.0.
Tomorrow is the first full day of Summer, and also my 80th Birthday.

Cheers Mates!

I'm still Tweaking and Tuning my Cleanup batch file, and most of the changes are just cosmetic.
I try to run it every couple of days.
Here's my cleanup report for today's run.
Cleanup 9-29-23.jpg
That was only a couple of days, since my last Cleanup. BOY, the junk files DO build up fast. Firefox is the worse offender. Edge is next. Those are the only two browsers that I use, so they are the only ones mentioned in my Batch File.

The important thing to note here, is not so much that I wrote a very successful Cleanup program but that there is SO MUCH to clean up. It's amazing, how fast the junk files can build up on any HD.
When I was still doing Tune-UPs on home computers, it was not unusual to find a PC that was totally out of space on the HD, because of the build up of junk files. Deleting hundreds of thousands of junk files, takes a little while. I spent over 3 hours on one guy's PC one day, just removing junk. It had slowed to a crawl, and then just quit.

NO WAY can I let my own PC's get into that condition.

Cheers Mates!
