I was just wondering which OS you would consider going with as an alternative to Windows.
Since Mage didn't answer I will. Linux Mint or Ubuntu.

'mage didn't directly answer, because the question was pointless!!!
I did not even intimate that I wanted to try anything other than Windows. I just don't want to use any Windows that came directly from Microsoft, with all the BS that they want to attach to it. Eh?

And, I don't want their freakin' Updates either! MS updates are a recipe for disaster.
That's not just an opinion, but what I've learned from taking service calls on PC's for 40+ years.
I've repaired MANY PC's that were damaged by some errant MS Update.

I've always believed their explanations that updates were needed to protect us from newly-discovered security vulnerabilities.

One thing our corrupt govt. can't take away from us is our beliefs.
So, till you've worked as a Computer tech for 40+ years, and have seen the damage that MS Updates can do, your beliefs won't match reality.
I won't even accept my OS from Microsoft. I get my Windows ISO after it's been totally debugged by qualified programmers.
And, then pre-conditioned by Rufus, as it's burned to a Flash Drive.

And, I ditched MS Office years ago, in favor of a much less invasive Open Office.

My own thought is that any program or OS that requires constant updates, wasn't very well written in the first place. Too many loopholes and back doors.
I suppose I could be wrong, but, "It works for me!"
My own install of Windows 11/Pro/64 just works great, with none of the problems I see recounted on these internet forums. And, most of them follow an MS Update. Go figure!

Someone asked the question, "what are your favorite programs" and I have to reply "StopUpdates10.exe"

Y'all have a great day now, Y'hear?

Since Windows 11 has restriction to only allow modern computers Microsoft will need to explain why Windows 12 will be better for modern computers and the reason for not adding the new features to Windows 11. Window 11 has a slow start and still a majority of users are on Windows 10. Windows 12 will only slow the transition.

For some unknown reason, Windows 10 just didn't do it for me. It was kind of like a blind date with an ugly girl.
She was OK, but just didn't really turn me on. If that makes any sense.

But when I first tried Windows 11, not from MS, that started a love affair. Now with some Tweaks, some tuning, and the Classic Shell, Windows 11/Pro/64 is just running GREAT on my OLD PC. Seems to run faster than Windows 7, 8.1 or 10.

Cheers Mates,

I do not believe Microsoft will let so many older PCs be abandoned. MY prediction is Windows 11 will become the new Windows for the older PCs and Windows 12 will be for the advanced PCs.

Since there is NO Windows 12, yet, it's all just guesswork and speculation. But I foresee that when 12 is finally released, the After Market programmers (usually NOT in the US) will get it, debug it, and make is usable on older PC's, like mine. Just like they've done for Windows 11.

Once debugged, Windows 11 is SWEET! I don't expect having any problems with Windows 12.

Happy Thanksgiving!
