It seems a terrible waste to be discarding HUGE amounts of equipment around the world just because Microsoft decreed that your computer doesn't fit their requirements, even though it can run fine on it. I think it's a very bad move, especially in these times of environmental awareness. Can you imagine the amount of waste around the world? It's not like it's a small smartphone. Personal computers are larger pieces of hardware. I'm not an environmentalist, but this is just pure waste.

Apple are doing the same making a lot of perfectly working iphones obsolete this year (different I know but a personal bugbear at the moment). However their excuse is "we can recycle the old hardware". Makes them sound environmentally friendly. No doubt Microsoft will be offering something similar!

Unlike Apple Microsoft only announces that your computer is unsupported, but they do leak the workaround to make it work so not to reduce their user base too much. They claim Windows 11 is very secure due to the minimum system requirements, but at the same time have a little impact on their user base. In contrary, the only workaround to install a new iOS or iPadOS on unsupported devices is to jailbreak these and even then success is not guaranteed, you may brick them. Also old Windows versions don't stop you using old software or even some new ones, but old iOS or iPadOS versions block your access to Apple Store and you cannot download anything, including old versions of your existing applications. Should an application has issues, you cannot download it again, you just uninstall it and forget about it. Please don't compare Microsoft with Apple again. Microsoft are way better.
